As a preliminary to the start of the winter track season, a meeting was held yesterday afternoon in the Dillon Field House which was attended by about 140 candidates. Coach Farrell, Coach Mikkola, and John M. Morse '34, captain of this year's team, addressed the candidates, and, following these talks movies were shown of the last I. C. 4A. track meet. Coach Farrell announced that intensive practice would start immediately.

The prospects for the coming season, which begins Saturday, January 27 in the annual Knights of Columbus meet at the Boston Garden, are considered to be extremely favorable. It is expected this year's squad will make up the best balanced team in many years since there are men of fine calibre in every event. John H. Dean '34, football captain, will be relied upon for the shot put and discus. Dean, it will be remembered, was a point winner in the I. C. 4A. meet of last year.

Captain Morse, one of the outstanding quarter-milers in the East, will run the 440-yard dash while sprints will be entrusted to Edwin E. Calvin '35. Climaxing his season by winning three first places against Yale, Robert S. Playfair '36, will be entered in the mile and 1000-yard run. Thomas F. Locke '35, Anthony A. Bliss '36, and John White '34 ar also expected to show up well
