NO MOVE FROM HARVARD ON NATIONAL RECOVERY

COLUMBIA WILL TAKE MEASURES NEXT WEEK

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Although Washington has stressed the necessity for immediate response, Harvard has not yet acted on the program for National Recovery, and it is probable that no action will be taken until fall. Since the University employs approximately 2000 people, and is a great consumer, their cooperation or non cooperation would have no affect. The investigating committee which is composed of W. C. Saeger, Bursar, and A. L. Endicott '06, comptroller, are away for a fortnight, and there is no schedule meeting of the corporation until September. At the office of H. L. Shattuck '01, treasurer of the University no information could be obtained as to when definite action would be taken.

Columbia University which controls or employs about 4,500 people is planning to accept the President's program as a consumer next week, and will take action on the wage increase and hour reduction schedule in September.
