In announcing that the policy of discouraging entrance applicants who have no hope of meeting expenses at Harvard is being continued this year, University officials yesterday expressed their approval of its results. It was pointed out that employment opportunities and financial aids which would have been spread over a large number of men in smaller amounts and often dissipated, are now used in larger amounts to help a somewhat smaller number of first-rate men.

Henry Pennypacker '88, chairman of the Committee on Admission pointed out, in his annual report, that the policy has brought important facts to the attention of candidates whose means are limited but whose hopefulness in some instances is likely to outweigh good judgment.
