UNIVERSITY PRESS PRINTS ADDITIONS TO TWO SERIES

Painting and Economics Are Subjects Of New Books

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Outstanding among the publications of the University Press this year are two books, one on painting and one on economics, which will go on sale next week.

"The History of Spanish Painting," by C. R. Post '04, professor of Greek and Fine Arts, deals with the influence of the Flemish upon the Spanish painters in the latter part of the fifteenth century. Explaining the solidifying effect of the uniting of the kingdoms of Castile and Leon by the marriage of Ferdinand and Isabella, Post shows how the arts were able to flourish under these two great patrons. This is the fourth of a series of ten or fifteen volumes which will cover the entire history of Spanish painting.

"The Theory of Monopolistic Competition," by E. W. Chamberlin, assistant professor of Economics, is the thirty-eighth volume of the Harvard Economic Series, and deals with the theory of values.
