HARVARD REJECTS PROPOSED LONG BEACH CREW REGATTA

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In reply to a telegram sent by the University of California suggesting that Harvard enter an inter-collegiate crew Regatta at Long Beach in June, W. J. Bingham '16, Director of Athletics, wired that Harvard could not accept the invitation.

It is understood that the regatta was to have been a substitute for the regular Poughkeepsie Regatta which has been called off this year. Questioned as to the reasons for his move, Bingham said that the Long Beach course, which is 1 5-6 miles in length, is too short for a Varsity race at a time when both Harvard and Yale will be training for the four-mile race at New London.
