Chase Selects Members of Phi Beta Kappa Committee

George H. Chase '86, dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and president of the Graduate Council of Phi Beta Kappa, yesterday announced the appointment of a committee to investigate plans for the society's proposed active work. The men selected are Alston H. Chase, Instructor in Greek and Latin, chairman; Daniel J. Boorstin '34; and Meyer B. Abrams '34.

This committee will meet in the near future to discuss plans for obtaining a series of lectures by famous men, explaining the relationship of their fields with undergraduate education. The committee will also consider a plan for publishing one or two outstanding honors theses each year. These plans have been proposed in an effort to make the Phi Beta Kappa an active organization, instead of the mere passive, honorary society that it now is.
