SEX LIFE OF FUNGI SUBJECT OF BOTANY EXPERIMENTS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Inquiries into the sex life of fungi is the subject of an experiment being carried on by Ralph Emerson 1G.S. under the supervision of William II. Weston, Jr., professor of Botany in the Cryptogamic Botany laboratory. This is the first time which inquiries of such a sort have been made. Already Emerson has crossed algae plants to form new plants, revealing what has been a missing link in evolution.

Another student is carrying on experiments concerning the fungi which attack humans, known as athlete's foot and still another is working on a growth which attacks tomatoes. Every man under Professor Weston is carrying on some sort of research work. More of the new men this year in his department are from Harvard College.
