RICHARDSON IS CHOSEN ALUMNI MARSHAL FOR GRADUATION EXERCISES

John Richardson '08, has just been elected Chief Marshal to lead Harvard Alumni at Commencement next June. The election took place last night at the meeting of the Directors of the Harvard Alumni Association held at the Harvard Club. The post of Chief Marshal is traditionally awarded to a member of the Harvard class returning to Cambridge for its twenty-fifth reunion. During the past four years, the office has been held by Franklin D. Roosevelt '04, president-elect of the United States; Walter S. Gifford '05, president of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company; Francis A. Goodhue '06, president of the International Acceptance Corporation; and last year, by B. Loring Young '07, former speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

Mr. Richardson graduated from the Harvard Law School in 1911, and entered the firm of Ropes, Gray, Boyden and Perkins, later becoming a partner. During the war, he served in the infantry, and was discharged with the rank of captain. Mr. Richardson has been active in Massachusetts politics, and is now Republican national committeeman for Massachusetts.

As an undergraduate, Mr. Richardson rowed for three years on the University crew, serving as captain in 1908. In 1906 he was a member of the Harvard crew which rowed against the Cambridge University crew in England.
