With their eyes on the Princeton Meet, members of the University track squad are going through intensive daily workouts on the cinder track at Soldiers Field in order to be at top form by the end of the week. As yet the number of men who are to make the trip has not been determined, but it is understood that it will not be possible to send more than 25 or 30 men this year.
Time trials have been held regularly during the last two weeks and their aggregate results will be the basis for determining the Princeton meet selections. The men who fail to make the trip are to take part in the Greater Boston Intercollegiates which take place at the same time.
Bingham Attends Meeting
W. J. Bingham '16, Director of Athletics, attended the meeting of the American Olympic Committee in Philadelphia last Sunday in which it was decided that the number of athletes that will be allowed to compete in the Olympic games, starting July 31, will be determined by the success or failure of the drives for funds all over the country. Up to date only $34,000 of the $350,000 needed for the American participation has been received. Economy is to be practiced in selecting coaches, trainers, and events until more money is forthcoming.
The committee also decided to make the Eastern tryouts at the Harvard Stadium on June 17 and 18 a semifinal meet, in which approximately 30 athletes will qualify for the final tests which are booked at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California, on July 15 and 16.
