DILAPIDATED HOUSES NEAR LEVERETT BEING TORN DOWN

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Work on the demolition of several of the dilapidated dwelling houses on DeWolfe Street directly opposite the Master's Lodgings of Leverett House was begun yesterday by the Fellsway Wrecking Company. None of the property on which they are situated belongs to the University, officials declared, although some of the lots between DeWolfe Street and Mather Hall are owned by Harvard.

The dwellings which have just been condemned have been boarded up for some time, constituting an eyesore both in their own right and as a result of the political posters with which their external walls have frequently been covered.
