TENNIS TEAM TO START SEASON WITH AMHERST

JAYVEE MATCH MAY BE CALLED OFF AT EXETER

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Strengthened by several days of additional practice on outdoor courts, because of cold weather which caused the initial match with M.I.T. to be postponed, the University tennis team will usher in the season on the Divinity Avenue Courts at 4 o'clock this afternoon in a contest with Amherst.

The University second team which is scheduled to journey to New Hampshire to engage the Exeter netmen, will probably be unable to make the trip because of conflicting examinations and classes.

Since March 3, a large squad has been practicing on the top floor of the Indoor Athletic Building, but no workouts on the clay courts were possible until last week. From the group of 18 who have been retained, Coach Harry Cowles has selected the following men to meet the Amherst six: Captain D. M. Frame, No. 1; A. W. Patterson '32, No. 2; J. M. Barnaby '32; No. 3; F. B. Broida '32, No. 4; S. E. Davenport, III '34, No. 5; H. W. Cole '32, No. 6. The Amherst players have not been announced. Last year when the Crimson met Amherst later in the season, Harvard blanked the opposing team, 9-0.

Second Team

If the match with Exeter is run off a team selected from the following will play: W. E. Arensberg '33, F. O. Canfield '32, R. A. Cooley '32, G. H. Hartford '34, R. I. Inglis, Jr. '33, G. D. Key, Jr. '33, J. F. Ray '34, W. C. Thompson '32, E. S. Underwood '32, C. Y. Wadsworth '32, H. R. Woodard, and Mark Woodbury '32.
