PRINCETON WITHDRAWS FROM DEBATE ON FRIDAY

Insufficient Time Given Nassau Team To Prepare Speeches For Contest With Harvard and Yale

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

For the second time in three years Princeton will not participate in the triangular debate, scheduled for Friday.

Since the debate was announced only several days ago, Princeton avers that there is insufficient time to prepare a team. As formerly planned, the debate would have consisted in two separate meetings, one in Cambridge and one at Princeton, with Harvard organizing both an affirmative and a negative team. The negative would have gone to Princeton, while the affirmative would have met Yale in Cambridge.

This withdrawal necessitates a rearrangement of plans, if there is to be a meeting with Yale. Attempts are being made at present to arrange a double contest with Yale, in which case the Crimson negative team will meet Yale in New Haven and the affirmative will stay in Cambridge.

The absence of Princeton does not affect awards of the Thomas Jefferson Coolidge Prizes which are given on the basis of work in the trials for the triangular debate.
