The south wall of the Kirkland quadrangle threatens to become the College aviary. Over 500 birds, principally sparrows and starlings, have literally infested the succulent ivy tapestry that obscures the brick. Fortunately few residents room on the side of the Dining Hall and Common Room, but the song with which the birds greeted the rising sun at 5.56 o'clock yesterday morning could be heard in the whole court.
An ornithologist has discerned 15 species, among which are: two varieties of chickadee, a ruby-crowned kinglet, a black and white junco, a nuthatch, a downy woodpecker and forlorn cedar waxwing.
