A last-chukker onslaught, resulting in four quick goals, brought victory to the Harvard polo team in a spirited game with the Princeton trio Saturday night on the Commonwealth Armory tanbark. It was no last minute frenzied rally, but a cool, calculated offensive, led by W. S. Luton '33, who scored the four winning tallies which brought the 10 to 7 1-2 victory to the Crimson.
Up to the beginning of the fatal last chukker, the orange and black shirted Princetonians were leading 7 1-2 to 6. They were then deprived of the services of R. S. Waterhouse, the star Nassau number two man, who suffered a fractured jaw in the closing minutes of the third stanza when he was struck by a Harvard mallet in a close scrimmage.
A swift backhander from Luton, the high scorer of the contest, made from a gallop, drove the ball between the bars for the first score of the game. Then after giving an exhibition of fine saving, the Harvard number one man registered again. Captain Freeman then started the Tigers off with a tally from a six man melee directly in front of the Crimson goal. Captain F. S. Nicholas '33 sent another goal through for Harvard. Crispin Cooke '32 sent a steaming shot from midfield to score in the next stanza which the Princeton back soon countered by retaliating with an aerial shot through the Harvard posts.
The summary: Score--Harvard 10, Princeton 7 1-2. Goals--Luton 7, Waterhouse 3, Nicholas 2, Kemmerer, Cooke, Freeman. Fouls--Kemmerer. Time--four 7 1-2 minute chukkers. Referee--Forrester Clark '29.
