RUGGERS HANDICAPPED IN PRACTICE SESSIONS

MEETINGS WILL BE HELD IN THE DIFFERENT HOUSES

Rugby practice, for which over sixty men turned out last week, is now somewhat handicapped by the lack of a place in which to play. At present the sessions are being held underneath the stadium, but it is expected that as soon as a week of warm weather has passed, the outdoor fields will be in good enough condition to start intramural games going. The ruggers were deprived of the use of the cage when the baseball players turned out.

Coach P. S. deQ. Cabot 1G has devoted most of the time thus far to instructing new men in the fundamentals of the game. This afternoon at 3.30 o'clock he will give a blackboard lecture in the Dillon Field House on technical points of rugby. Meetings will be held shortly in the respective houses to form teams.

According to President M. E. Bothner '34 there is a number of experienced new men out. Among these are L. J. C. Balsan 1GB of the Paris University Club, A. D. Cadman '35 of Harrow, John Lomax gr.E.S. of the Manchester Club, John Megaw sL, T. H. O'Brien 1G of Oxford, and A. S. Thorburn '35 of Loretto School, Scotland.

Promising Candidates

Promising candidates for the University team returning from last year are: Stanton Whitney '34, T. N. Lawler 3L, R. H. Watt '32, A. W. Sherman '34, P. W. Dockery 2L, E. C. Pugh '33, Joseph Oppenheim '34, and M. E. Bothner '34. Bothner injured his leg last year early in the season and the same injury may again prevent him from playing this year. Besides Whitney, who was a member of the University football squad last fall, it is expected that I. B. Hardy '33, regular tackle, will also come out.
