STUDIO PLAYERS SHOW "UNCLE VANYA" TONIGHT

This evening at 8.15 o'clock in Brattle Hall the Studio Players will present "Uncle Vanya" by Anton Chekov. The production was given its Cambridge premier last evening in the Rogers Building before a limited audience composed of members and patrons of the Dramatic Club.

Gathered from the company and school of Eva Le Gallienne's New York Civic Repertory Theatre, the Studio Players have already made two appearances before Cambridge audiences this year. George Bernard Shaw's "Great Catherine" and Ibsen's "When We Dead Awake" are the two productions that the New York group has already given on the Brattle Hall stage.

"Uncle Vanya" was presented last year in New York by the Theatre Guild, when it was produced by Jed Harris, with title roles being played by Lillian Gish and Eugene Powers. The closed performance given last evening in the Rogers Building for the Dramatic Club constituted an experiment for the Studio Players, who until the building was taken over by the Dramatic Club had not had an opportunity in play there. This evening's performance will find the New York company back on the stage in Brattle Hall.
