Harvard's fourth annual military ball is to be held this year on March 4, in the Crystal Room of the Copley-Plaza Hotel, it was announced last night by W. P. Elwell '32, chairman of the executive committee.
In view of the fact that Senior and Junior proms have been discontinued, the executive committee, composed of Elwell, G. W. Movius '32, and L. S. Willard '32 is extending invitations for the ball to all members of the University. Appointment of the two head ushers A. H. Parker, Jr. '32 and W. L. Thompson '32 was also announced. Parker and Thompson are cadet commanders of the Naval and Military units of the College respectively. They will select the ushers.
The date of the dance has been chosen to coincide with the night before the Harvard-Yale hockey game so that Yale men who attended the R.O.T.C. Camp Fort Ethan Allen may renew acquaintances made during the encampment of the Harvard-Yale unit. Members of the executive committee are now trying to procure a nationally known orchestra for the occasion and the definite arrangements will be given out later.
Mrs. Ronald T. Lyman, of Boston, has been assisting the committee in the preparation of a list of patronesses and the names of those on the receiving line will be announced in a few days. The members of the dance committee are E. B. Cole '32, F. M. Dearborn '33, N. B. DeNood '33, T. K. Dunstan '33, R. W. Emory '35, R. S. Hurburt '35, H. B. Johnston '34, T. F. Locke '35, Samuel Powell, Jr. '32, and J. L. Swarts '33.
