The Jacob Wendell Scholarship has been awarded this year to George Lee Haskins '35, of Cambridge, according to an announcement made by the University News Office. The recipient of the scholarship, which is one of the leading undergraduate honors in the College, is the son of Charles Homer Haskins, Lea Professor of Medieval History, Emeritus, and former Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

Haskins prepared at Phillips Exeter Academy, and last year, as a Freshman, was ranked in Group 1, one of 13 men achieving this distinction.

The scholarship was established in 1896 under the will of the late Jacob Wendell of New York, father of the late Barrett Wendell '77, professor of English at Harvard from 1898 until 1917. The holder is selected personally by the Dean of the College, and each year the newly appointed holder is invited to a dinner attended by members of the Wendell family, as well as former holders of the scholarship.
