DEAN IS PROBABLY OUT OF ARMY GAME

Scores Three Touchdowns in 45-Minute Scrimmage--No Official Lineup To Be Given Out Until Friday

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Latest reports from Soldiers Field indicate that a muscle strain will probably keep Dean out of the lineup Saturday when Coach Casey's men face the cadets in the Stadium. For the first time this season no official lineup will be given out before Friday afternoon.

Yesterday afternoon Team C and the Jayvees went through a 45-minute scrimmage, the Team C eleven putting across three touchdowns. Hurlbut put across the first count from the one-yard line, and Sherman scored the second touchdown after a 20-yard run. For the third score, Casey put the ball on the 20-yard line and gave the C eleven three plays to put it over. A pass from Leonard to Cassedy was good for a third touchdown. John Taylor was tried out at center for the Jayvees, but will not regularly replace Casey or Lockwood.

Practice on Fundamentals

The squad went through the usual fundamentals, blocking, tackling, and practiced passing for half an hour, with the second Varsity shooting the Army aerial plays which the West Pointers have employed with extraordinarily good effect this year.

The most important matter that the coaches have been concentrating on is the development and drilling of four blocking backs, so that any member of the quartet may substitute without loss of efficiency for any other. Nevin and Barrett have been selected for the number two backs, and Gleason and Dean for number one positions.

Casale and Grady are not sure of a place in Saturday's contest, and there is only a remote possibility that Hallowell will be put in against the cadets.
