START EXCAVATIONS FOR FIRE STATION THURSDAY

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Excavations for the new Cambridge Fire Station opposite Memorial Hall are scheduled to begin Thursday, according to information learned at the City Hall yesterday. This necessitates the wrecking of the Rogers Building which now stands on the site. The new station, designed by the Sturgis Associates, is to be Georgian in style with a large cupola topping it. The structure will be three stories high with a small two-story wing projecting in the direction of the Yard.

The apex of the triangular lot, stretching along, the north of the Yard will be leveled off in order to form a large street area, which the fire engines will cross getting in and out.
