INFANTILE PARALYSIS COMMISSION RECEIVES $5000 COMMISSIONS

Contributions in excess of $5,000 have been received by the Harvard Infantile Paralysis-Commission in the first two weeks of its appeal for funds toad the research and clinical work carried on by the Commission. No drive for funds was made last year, and a deficit in the treasury necessitated the present appeal.

The commission, whose work is chiefly in research, this year, as a result of the establishment of a state commission to perform the routine of field investigation in various parts of the state, also maintains a clinic in the Children's Hospital in Boston, under the direction of A. T. Legg, assistant professor of Orthopedic Surgery. This clinic diagnoses and supervises cases of the disease which occur in Boston. The research staff is endeavoring to discover a more effective serum than the one now used. Contributions for the fund are being received by Kidder Peabody and Company, of Boston. It is hoped that $20,000 will be raised this year.
