NEW ALUMNI BOARD HEADED BY MORTON

At the first meeting of the current year the Directors of the Harvard Alumni Association elected officers and directors for the coming year from a list of nominees presented by the Nominating Committee.

Judge J. M. Morton Jr. '91, of Fall River, Massachusetts, was elected President for one year. He succeeds F. A. Delano '85 of Washington, D. C. who has held the office for the past year. Morton graduated from the Law School in 1894 and practiced privately until 1912 when he was appointed to serve as United States District Judge for Massachusetts. In 1931 he was elevated to the United States Circuit Court where he has been a judge ever since.

Dr. W. S. Thayer '85 of Baltimore, Maryland and Henry Parkman Jr. '15, of Boston were selected as Vice Presidents. Thayer was professor of Medicine for many years at Johns Hopkins University and some time ago he was made Professor Emeritus. He is a holder of honorary degrees from Washington College and Edinburgh, McGill, Paris and Chicago Universities. During the war he served as chief consultant for the Medical Services, A.E.F. His other Harvard activities include serving as a member of the Board of Overseers from 1915-18 and from 1929-32. Parkman had practiced law in Boston for twelve years and was a members of the Boston City Council from 1926-29. His other political work has been serving as a Massachusetts State Senator from 1929-30.

H. C. Clark '11, Treasurer of the Alumni Bulletin and Executive Secretary of the Harvard Endowment Fund, was reelected General Secretary of the Alumni organization.

R. H. Hallowell '96, of Boston, A. G. Thatcher '97 of New York, and B. McK. Henry '24 of New York were elected to serve a three year term as Directors of the Alumni Association, and members of the Harvard Fund Council.

The Alumni Association has recently occupied its new quarters in Wadsworth House, which until recently has housed the departments of Hygiene and Physical Education. The newly--established Alumni Placement Bureau, which acts in conjunction with the Association, and occupies offices in Wadsworth House, is scheduled to issue its annual report at the end of the current week.

The old colonial landmark which once housed George Washington has now become the headquarters for the 61,000 living Harvard graduates.
