Lowering the Harvard records in the backstroke and breast stroke for the second time in as many meets, the University tanksters swam their way last night to a 56-15 victory over M.I.T. Lykes, Technology's star diver, was the only one of the visitors to take a first place.

E. E. Stowell '34 clipped two seconds off the backstroke record set in the Bowdoin meet by E. G. Helvenston '33, and G. C. Larcom '33 again cut down his breast stroke record by two and four-fifths seconds.

The feature of the evening was the contest for second place in the breast stroke between A. C. Dearing, Jr. '34 and Flanders of M.I.T., the latter finally pulling ahead at the finish. E. P. Parker '34 and George Wightman '34 fought an extremely close race for first place in the century.

Coach Ulen put in a new relay team at the last minute composed of T. H. Jameson '33, W. R. Timken '33, N. M. Howe '34, and B. S. Wood '33, which boat out the Tech swimmers by about half a length.

The University mermen will meet their first stiff opposition next Tuesday, January 19 when they swim against Brown in the Harvard pool.
