The Phillips Brooks House reception for Freshmen is an important and worthwhile occasion for all newcomers to the College. At no other time will they be presented with a more comprehensive survey of undergraduate activities as carried on at Harvard.
Mature authorities have almost universally supported the thesis that at least one extra-curricular activity is an essential of undergraduate life at college. If the world has not declared itself in favor of the activities, it has at least expanded on the theme of social contacts. There is no surer and better way to meet one's fellows in college than to join with them in the community of interest involved in an activity.
In this annual reception for Freshmen the Brooks House Association proves itself an important center of undergraduate life at Harvard and its efforts in aiding the first year men on their way are to be commended.
