Members of Coach Farrell's track squads were largely successful yesterday in retaining their laurels against all comers in the annual University Handicap Meet in the Stadium yesterday afternoon, ceding first place to graduate stars in only three events. Encouraged by liberal handicaps, a more than average number of new-comers to the cinderpaths competed under conditions which were ideal except for a light wind that cut down the times, but no new stars were uncovered. The Stadium will be the scene of the forty- seventh annual Interscholastic meet this afternoon.
V.L. Hennessey IL, member of last year's relay team, beat G. F. Bennett 33 to the tape in the century sprint, with a time of 10 3-5 seconds. Other graduate wins were in the field events; B. B. Smith IG.Ed., former Oxford vaulter who has been practicing with the track squad on Soldiers Field during the season, tied for first place with H. M. Howe '34, who was aided with a two-foot handicap; a 4-inch booster gave G. W. Larsen 2G a height of 6 ft., 1 1-2 in. in the high jump.
The Interscholastic meet starting at 1.30 o'clock, will see 650 athletes from 52 schools competing in four classes, with Andover and Worcester favorites.
