PRACTICE IS OVER FOR CREWS UNTIL VISIT TO RED TOP

With one of the most brilliant seasons seen at Harvard for a good many years behind it, the University crew broke practice yesterday for a three-day interval before the squad entrains for Red Top on Sunday. Leaving South Station tonight at 11 o'clock, the third University and the first 150-pound crew depart for Philadelphia in a special car.

The three Harvard eights went for their last row on the Charles late yesterday afternoon, the Jayvee and third boats embarking first for a short excursion downstream, and returning immediately to the Newell boathouse. Shortly afterward the first boat set out for the Basin at a brisk paddle, proceeding below the Technology boathouse. On the return trip Cassedy set a slightly higher beat, and was rowing a good 40 when the shell passed under the Lars Anderson Bridge. From today until the end of the week the squad will be free to do as it likes. Whiteside feeling that the danger of overtraining is greatest at this point in the season. On Sunday the University, Jayvee, and Freshman crews, substitutes, coaches, managers, attendants, and launch-drivers will leave for the three-week sojourn on the Thames before the New London regatta on June 19.

In preparation for the last naval contest in the 150-pound class to be entered this season by Harvard, Sullivan has established the eight which will represent the University at the Quaker City on Saturday. He has found trouble throughout the season in organizing a unit under the weight limit which can produce the necessary power, but bases his hopes on the present combination. At present he is undecided as to which of his two strokes, Prince and White, will set the pace in the Henley regatta, and will accordingly take both of them with him when he leaves for the Schuylkill tonight.
