Professor J.D.M. Ford '92 has been elected president of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences which, with the exception of the American Philosophical Society, is the oldest scientific society in America.

Among members who were elected at the same time are Professors S.B. Fay '96 and P.A. Sorokin of Harvard as well as Calvin Coolidge, Stephen Vincent Benet, and R.W. Boyden '85.
