1934 Track Team Defeats Exeter 64 1-2 to 30 1-2

Taking first place in every event except the pole vault, the Harvard Freshman track team overwhelmed Exeter in the final winter meet of the season last Saturday by the score of 64 1-2 to 30 1-2. The Crimson first-year men were especially strong in the track events, capturing two of the three places in every race.

70-yard high hurdles--Won by Cheek; second, Brenner (E); third, Hayes, Time--10 3-5 sec.

70-yard dash--Won by Pescosolido; second, Hayes; third, Dineen (E), Time--7 3-5 sec.

85-yard low hurdles--Won by Hayes: second, Cheek: third, Averill (E), Time--12 sec.

300-yard dash--Won by Hasler: second, Locke (E); third, Brown '34, Time--34 sec. (new record).

600-yard run--Won by J. B. White '34; second, F. M. Kirkland '34; third, Curtis (E), Time--1 min., 19 4-5 sec.

1000-yard run--Won by A. B. Hallowell '34; second, J. L. Harris '34; third, Bramwell (E). Time--2 min., 26 3-5 sec.

Broad jump--Won by Hasler; second Sheffey (E); third, Nims (E). Distance, 21 ft., 6 in.

Pole vault--Won by Woodburg (E); second, tie between Philips (E) and Wood (E). Height--10 ft., 10 in.

Shot put--Won by Pescosolido: second, Henley; third, Johnson (E). Distance--48 ft., 3 in.

High jump--Won by Healey: second, tie between Phillips (E) and W. H. Hatch '34, Height--5 ft., 10 in.

1320-yard relay--Won by Harvard: P. B. Winterstein '34, J. M. Moore '34, White and Hasler; second, Exeter: Cahoon, Webster, Smith, and Short. Time--2 min., 34 3-5 sec.
