Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
Harvard rugby players will open their schedule on Monday, March 30 at Soldiers Field; playing the Boston Rugby Club at 2 o'clock and the Philadelphia Marines following the first game. The University first and second teams, which will play these two games, will be selected as a result of ability shown in recent intramural games and an exhibition match to be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock on Soldiers Field between trial teams.
The University second team will meet the Boston Rugby Club, whose team is recruited from rugby enthusiasts from all over Greater Boston. R.G. Ormsby, who was the feature center three quarter of the New York Rugby Club a year ago, will play with and direct the Boston team. The University first team will meet the Philadelphia Marines, who have a strong team and are meeting Yale on Saturday.
Games have been arranged with Princeton for both the Harvard first and second teams on Saturday, April 4 at Soldiers Field. The University players will journey to Syracuse for a match on Monday, April 6, and they will continue their season after the spring vacation by a game with Yale on Saturday, April 25.
The sport is still being conducted informally at Harvard, but interest has grown this year until about 90 men are now engaged in it. It is expected that there will be six teams for intramural matches later in the season with Lowell House, Dunster House, Freshmen, Gold Coast, the Yard, and a sixth team to be made up of graduate men represented.
