A fast Harvard one-mile relay team defeated a Yale quartet in the B. A. A. games at the Arena last Saturday while A. L. Watkins '31 won the 40-yard dash and the 1934 one-mile relay runners outdistanced M. I. T. and Dartmouth freshmen. Crimson runners placed in the two-mile relay and 45-yard high hurdles and Oscar Sutermeister '32 tied with Martin of the B. A. A. for second in the pole vault event. Monty Wells took the 45-yard hurdle race from E. E. Record '32 in a spectacular dash. In the N. E. A. A. U. meet in the afternoon G. N. Barrie '32 placed first in the 1000-yard run.
The one-mile relay against the Elis was not a closely contested event. J. H. Pearson '32 gained a lead in the quarter and N. P. Dodge '32 and Record added to it until Vernon Munroe '31, running anchor, was handed a 45-yard advantage which he held. The time for the race was three minutes, 29 3-5 seconds.
Watkins and C. A. Pescosolido '34 came in first and second respectively in the 40-yard dash and were not pushed Watkins' time was 4 4-5 seconds. In the hurdle race Wells and Record flashed down the course as one man but the former had a shoulder in front when they met the tape.
In the N. E. A. A. U. games Harvard gained two places in addition to Barrie's win in the 1000-yard run as A. C. Forbes '32 took second in the 40-yard dash and C. A. Williams '31 placed second in the 600-yard run.
