BEGIN INFORMAL WORK FOR LACROSSE PLAYERS

Twenty upperclassmen and Freshmen reported yesterday for informal lacrosse practice in the Briggs baseball cage. Winter practice officially starts Monday at 4 o'clock in the cage, under the direction of University coach Madison Sayles '27, assistant coach C. E. Helntz, formerly of Stevens, and Freshman coach Frank Pickard '29.

The winter practice is for the purpose of giving all candidates a thorough grounding in fundamentals, especially those who have had no previous experience. Freshmen are urged to come out for the team. Previous experience is unnecessary, and credit for compulsory athletics is given. Men desiring credit are asked to report that fact at Dillon Field House as they come in.

The University schedule is not yet complete, but it will include games with Army, Navy, Penn State, the Crescent Athletic Club of New York, Brown, and Yale. The Freshmen will meet first year teams from New Hampshire. M. I. T., Boston University, Tufts, and Yale.

A second University team is to be formed this year, but the schedule is as yet unannounced. During the spring vacation the first team will be in New York, training at the Crescent Athletic Club.

Prospects for the season are fair. with five letter men back. These are J. P. Faude '31, Luther Gulick '31. Wayne Hobbs '31, O. D. Johnson '31, and Gardiner Robinson '31, last year's captain.

Captain Robinson. all-American point last year, has been awarded the Morgan Lacrosse Cup for 1930. This is given yearly to the man who does the most for Harvard lacrosse.
