8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
Better hitting and team work gave the University polo team an 11 to 6 1-2 win over the strong 110th Cavalry trio in the initial clash of the indoor polo season at the Commonwealth Armory Saturday night. The Freshman trio also showed up well in downing the 51st Artillery Brigade, 8 to 4 1-2.
Captain F. S. Nicholas '33 kept down the scoring of the Cavalrymen by his excellent defensive play, while his teammates clicked offensively to run up the Crimson score. L. S. Dillingham '34 was tied for high scoring honors with F. A. Clark '29, former Crimson star, with four goals. Dillingham started the scoring immediately after the opening throw-in with a nice full forward shot from three-quarter field, but the cavalrymen came back strong to gain a commanding lead in goals scored by the end of the second chukker. From the third chukker on however, the superior team work of the Crimson trio enabled the Harvard malletmen to come out on the long end of the score.
Captain D. A. Davis '35 led the Freshman riders to victory over the veteran 51st Brigade scoring four goals while Cunningham, number one man for the Brigade starred for the losers with two goals.
