FOGG MUSEUM

In order to house its recent acquisition of the Naumberg rooms, the Fogg Museum is this winter planning to construct a new wing, final plans of which have not yet been decided. The Museum in its present state is very complete; its library has probably the best Fine Arts collection of any University. But for the use of its facilities, the Museum needs, more than the added exhibition rooms or even the new social rooms, enlarged library space.

For average use, the present library is sufficient. In the reading or examination periods. It is quite inadequate. Even on days preceding hour examinations, students often must study in the court yard, where distracting noises reverberate from side to side. And the problem of holding these numbers seems to be steadily growing, as Fine Arts courses become more and more popular.

Fortunately, however, with the new wing to be built, it would not be hard to make a few revisions. Space sufficient for two or three tables is taken up by the Slide Catalogue; adjoining is the Photograph Department. If both of these could be removed to the new portions of the Museum, surely the freed space would be enough to carry the increased burden.
