INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL BEGINS YEAR TONIGHT

This evening at 8 o'clock in the parlor of Phillips Brooks House the first meeting of the International Council will be held. The Council is the discussion group that meets about once a month to talk over foreign affairs. The discussion will be introduced by Ulrich Kersten gr.L. who will give a short analysis of present day conditions in Germany.

The meetings of the Council, to which both graduates and undergraduates are invited, are held in the manner of informal discussions, and although Brooks House officials hope that a good many will take active part in these evening sessions, there is also opportunity for those not so well versed in present international problems to learn from economists, engineers, lawyers, and students of history and government who are acquainted with various national difficulties.

Disarmament Campaign

This year a widespread campaign for disarmament is being carried on in colleges of the entire United States, and it is probable that the Harvard discussion group will consider this baffling problem. The Disarmament conference, the present international movements of gold and capital, the Indian conference, the Chinese-Japanese question, the problem of European Union, are some of the problems which will provide material for the International Council.

Through its affiliation with the Carnegie Endowment the Council has at Philips Brooks House a selection of current books on some of the questions of present day interest. Refreshments will be served following the discussion.
