"The Harvard University Instrumental Clubs has more of a job than to preserve itself," stated D. C. Gates '26, chairman of the Graduates Committee in a special plea to the officers and members of the club. "In recent years traditions have been dropped, scrap books and files have not been kept up." Continuing, he writes that it is the duty of the incoming officers to bear the responsibility, and to get after the schools and fellow college mates, for the club should "set the torch and inspire others to learn the art and pleasure of creative work in socializing music."

Recent announcement has been made of the Instrumental Clubs trials, starting Monday and Tuesday at 6.45 o'clock in the Music Building. These trials will be open to all members of the University who play any kind of musical instrument or can in anyway entertain. The club consists of five units which are: Banjo Club, Mandolin Club; Vocal Club, Gold Coast Orchestra, and the Specialty Division, including vocal or instrumental soloists and prestidigatators.

The first concert will be on December 11 at Andover, with possibly others before that. The next concert is the Cambridge one, scheduled for December 18 at the Commander Hotel. The Christmas trip, starting Christmas night, and lasting ten days, is the greatest undertaking. A group of fifty men are taken, chosen according to their ability and to the regularity of their attendance. The route usually includes Albany, Rochester, Buffalo, East Orange, and New York.

The present officers of the Instrumental Clubs are as follows: G. W. Lewis '32 president, J. M. Davis Jr. '32 manager, Cyrus Wood '32, secretary, and Heywood Fox '33, assistant manager.
