With but two practice periods remaining before the encounter with a strong West Point eleven, stiffest third game scheduled in several years, Team A yesterday went through an extensive dummy scrimmage aimed at perfecting the defense against Army plays. Coach Knox's seconds represented a Cadet team which has shown 28 different running plays and 26 types of forward passes in its three appearances this season.
The session opened with the usual drill on fundamentals, and wound up with a 40-minute signal drill, punctuated by the coach's gun. The list of guards available for Saturday's tussle will not include Healey and Rogers, who are out with slight injuries.
The entire squad of 41 players will entrain from Back Bay at 10.05 o'clock tomorrow morning. Three special cars will carry the football and soccer squads, the coaching staff, Dr. Richards, six managers, rubbers, and equipment men, and "Mike," with the inevitable Haughton banner and a Horween pipe, to Greenwich, Conn.
From Greenwich busses will convey the players to Briarcliff Lodge at Briarcliff Manor, N. Y., 20 miles from West Point and on the other side of the Hudson. A light practice on the Lodge grounds is scheduled for 4.15. Saturday morning the party will cross the Bear Mountain Bridge to arrive at the Military Academy at 12.15, with lunch at Greystone Manor. After the game busses will leave from the field at 5.30, connecting with a special train which will bring the squad to Cambridge, Saturday night.
