Garber Privately Tells Faculty That Harvard Must Rethink Messaging After GOP Victory
Two ladies were watching Bobby Jones in one of his preliminary matches at the Amateur tournament last week. They didn't know very much about golf, the story goes, but they did know about Bobby. The latter was about to play one of the short holes on the Merion course, and the ladies were pondering the advisability of waiting or going on to a later hole where they could get better positions. The deciding argument came when one of them said, "Oh, come on; I want to see him play and he only takes two strokes on this hole."
Much the same sort of argument may have been used by the H. A. A. authorities when they booked a doubleheader for the Harvard football team to open its schedule with next Saturday. "Let's have two games, and then we can see lots more touchdowns," the story probably was.
But even then, it is doubtful if the ladies wanted to see Bobby take ten shots on one hole.
