CROSS COUNTRY SQUAD IS PREPARING FOR FIRST MEET

Harriers Rapidly Getting in Trim for Holy Cross Meet

With the first meet a week early because of the early running of the Inter-collegiates at New York on November 17, Coach Mikkola is rapidly conditioning the University cross country squad in preparation for its first run on October 3 against Holy Cross. The runners have had four regular workouts over the Charles River course, and Coach Mikkola is pleased with the unusual amount of seasoned and promising material.

The 59 members of the University squad and 24 Freshman candidates are using the old locker rooms in the dugout on Soldiers Field until their quarters in the new Dillon Field House have been completed.

Yesterday the 1934 harriers covered the full course for the first time. Although the Freshman squad, contains material of considerable promise, Coach Mikkola is still in search of more runners. Only two weeks remain for the coaches to season the first year men before the opening triangular meet with Holy Cross and New Hampshire on October 10.
