EASTMAN GIVES ADDITIONAL $100,000 FOR OXFORD CHAIR

Announcement was made yesterday that George Eastman, Rochester philanthropist and manufacturer, has given an additional $100,000 for the salary and expenses of the George Eastman visiting professor at Oxford, a chair established by Eastman last year with an initial gift of $200,000.

John Livingston Lowes, professor of English, and author of "The Road to Xanadu", is the first recipient of this professorship, which is given to a distinguished American professor, and he will occupy the chair at Oxford next year.
