CRIMSON OARSMEN HOLD DAILY PRACTICE ON RIVER

FRESHMAN SECONDS MEET GROTON NEXT SATURDAY

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

While Yale, Columbia and Penn have been pointing for their Derby Day regatta this afternoon, the Crimson oarsmen have been putting in a week of hard work on the Charles. With a full week free following their initial regatta with M. I. T., Harvard crews have worked out daily on the river during the past six days. Excellent weather conditions prevailing, Coach Whiteside has had ample opportunity to give the University eights coaching in view of their showing against Tech Saturday. No changes in the seating of any of the boats have been effected.

Race Next Saturday

In daily practice the University eight, stroked by F. F. Colloredo-Mansfeld '32, has continued its pre-race showing by consistently leading the Jayvee and third boats in short heats. For all crews, the week has been devoted chiefly to rowing long stretches varied with an occasional spurt of five or six minutes.

Harvard crews will not see outside competition again until next Saturday, May 10, when the 150-pound University boat rows in a triangular affair at Derby, Connecticut, with the Princeton and Yale lightweights. On the same day the Freshman Seconds will row against Groton at Groton.
