CRIMSON TENNIS TEAM MEETS COLUMBIA TODAY

This afternoon the University tennis team opposes Columbia in New York in the first match of its second trip this season. Tomorrow afternoon the team will go to Philadelphia, where it is to meet the University of Pennsylvania.

The Crimson team will be favored in the encounter with the Blue and White, since Harvard easily defeated the Norfolk Country Club, which in turn overcame Columbia, 5 to 4. The latter has defeated the Edgemoor Country Club, 6 to 3, while the Crimson has also won from William and Mary, the University of Virginia, Navy, and Amherst.

Doubles Still Undecided

The Crimson doubles teams has not yet been decided, but J. L. Ware '30 will probably play. Captain Arthur Ingraham '31 is unable to make the trip because of divisional examinations.

The Columbia team will be considerably changed from that which held Harvard to a bare 5 to 4 victory last year, having only two veterans. Raymond Stone and Howard Roe, who played numbers two and six, respectively, in 1929. First man for the Lions is David Jones, a sophomore, who led his freshman team last year.

The Crimson netmen will meet strong opposition against Penn tomorrow afternoon. The Red and Blue team has defeated Colgate, 8 to 1, and Haverford, 9 to 0, while in 1929 it took three matches against the Crimson. Four veterans will oppose Harvard in the match at Philadelphia.
