FRESHMAN NINE FACES DEAN ACADEMY TODAY

The Harvard Freshman baseball team will meet its first real opposition this afternoon when it meets a strong Dean Academy nine at 4 o'clock on Soldiers Field. It will be the second game of the year for the Freshmen, who opened their season last Saturday with a 10 to 4 victory over St. Mark's

Lineup Unchanged

Coach Claude Davidson is sending in the same lineup that he used Saturday, but inasmuch as all the pinch hitters for the first year men pulled through with timely hits in the first game, the makeup of the nine is extremely flexible, with no real stars having had a chance to show their worth.

In practice and in their one game the team has shown up as better hitters than fielders, with several potential batsmen having hit consistently well.

At the present time it is too early to prophesy about the pitching prospects for the Freshmen. Against St. Mark's W. J. Lloyd '33 caused four of the Southboro boys to fan the air, while M. L. Anschen '33 sent three men back to the dug-out without having had more than an empty whiff at the ball.

The Dean aggregation, however, is a strong team of hitters which has knocked more than one twirler out of the box. For this reason if the Freshman team does boast a pitcher worth talking about, he should make his name in the game this afternoon. Since practice was called off yesterday, the Freshman captain will be elected today before the game.
