Three strokes will make the trip to Kent next week when Coach F. R. Sullivan '27 takes his 150-pound crew down to the Connecticut school for practice during the Easter vacation. Leaving Cambridge Sunday, the oarsmen will have two days' practice on the Housatonic before meeting the Kent School eight on Wednesday.
Coach Sullivan has selected a tentative eight, who together with the extra strokes and the coxswains, will make the Kent up trip. A final choice for the University 150-pounders will be made after the Kent race, where the eight will meet its first outside competition of the year. The tentative seating of the first boat is as follows: stroke. J. M. Bryne '31; 7, Alexander Lincoln, Jr. '32; 6, J. S. Ames, Jr. '32; 5, E. A. Locke, Jr. '32; 4, H. N. Roberts '30; 3, Harper Woodward '31; 2. J. Q. Adams '31; bow, C. C. Perry '31. Accompanying the eight as extra strokes will be John Fox '31 and Donough Prince, '31.
While at Kent Coach Sullivan plans to have his charges row twice a day in preparation for the Spring season: At present the boat is slightly overweight, and the coach may find it necessary to rearrange his eight in order to reduce the average of the boat. No changes, however, will be effected until after he has had an opportunity to put his men through Spring practice, and has matched them against the Kent crew.
Last year's 150-pound eight, outweighed some twenty pounds apiece by their schoolboy rivals, was barely nosed out in the spring meeting.
