PLANS ANNOUNCED OF FRESHMAN CREW HOUSE AT RED TOP

Various Units of Establishment to be Interconnected--Getchell Confers Today With Architects

Plans for the construction of headquarters for the Freshman crew forces at Red Top, Connecticut, and for the construction of roads connecting the various units of the Harvard establishment there, were disclosed yesterday by C.F. Getchell, general manager of the Harvard Athletic Association. Getchell will confer in Red Top today with the architects for the proposed new building, William Platt and Son of New York City.

"The construction," Getchell pointed out yesterday, "is being undertaken by a crew fund committee of graduates and I will be present merely as a representative of the Athletic Association, which will have charge of the building on its completion." It is hoped that the structure, which will probably be located some distance behind Red Top, will be ready for the first year men this June. Present plans are that one of the new roads will lead from the main highway through a ledge to the boat, house with the second connecting with the dining quarters.

$200,000 Fund Established

In July, 1928, a group of graduates interested in crew initiated a project for a $200,000 fund to be devoted to headquarters at Red Top. Land was purchased and new headquarters for the University eight, used for the first time last June, were erected. Since that time a new dining hall, and a new boat house have been constructed, the latter the gift of Mrs. E.C. Bacon, in memory of her husband E.C. Bacon '10, a former crew man.
