An exhibit of plans and drawings for the Chicago War Memorial will be shown next week at Robinson Hall Annex, formerly the Old Fogg Museum.
The exhibit will contain 15 of the leading drawings submitted in a recent competition in which over 70 candidates, many of whom are foremost architects, took part. This competition was open to all, and purses of $20,000 and $5000 were awarded as first and second prizes respectively.
The stipulations of the plans allowed the building to occupy no more than one third of an area 1900 feet by 1500, part of which is on the shore, and part of which is in the water of Lake Michigan. Thus it could be designed to rest wholly on the shere, or partly on the shore and partly on the lake-bed, or wholly on the lake-bed.
