"Big business" efficiency which has recently become so popular in the national government apparently lies behind the reorganization of the administration of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The move which brings Dr. Compton of Princeton to the presidency of the largest educational institution of its kind at the same time establishes a new executive organization bearing a striking similarity to that of a large business corporation. With the present president in the office of Chairman of the Corporation, Technology next year will innovate an administration whereby the executive initiative of broad policies is not hampered by the usual routine of office.

After giving forth so much from the academic cloister it is pleasant retribution to find the scholar taking a lesson from the man of action. And in the present case it is not to be doubted that the lesson is a wise one which universities with numerous graduate schools would in time do well to follow.
