Freshman and Minor Sports Teams Have a Victorious Weekend

The Harvard Freshman basketball team emerged from its losing streak Saturday night at the expense of Hebron Academy by the score of 35 to 27. The game was played in Hemenway Gymnasium as a preliminary to the University game.

This was the first victory for the Freshmen since that over Andover. While their play showed some improvement, it is doubtful if it would have been sufficient to conquer strong opposition. Hebron, which has not had the best record among the Maine preparatory schools, had lost a close home game the night before, and aside from one or two individual stars, was not a formidable opponent.

Hebron took an early lead on fouls, but was soon overtaken and the Freshmen led, 18-15, at the half. In the second period the margin was increased to ten points. Notable was the ineffectiveness of the Freshmen on foul shots: only one player, Kimbrough, was able to score from the line. The Maine quintet, with more chances, gained nine points on free shots.

D. H. Davidson '33 and Captain C. H. Hageman '33 were the outstanding players for the winners: H. G. Reisner, Jr. '33, who has been out with a leg injury, played for a few minutes. Hurd, Hebron center, sank several dazzling one-handed shots, and led the visitors in scoring.
