Harvard's hockey sextet will officially start off its 1930-1931 season tonight when it takes the ice against the Massachusetts Institute of Technology team in the Boston Garden. The game is scheduled to start at 8.15 o'clock.
Coach Stubbs' Crimson charges will be played their first game after having had but nine days of regular practice. With the first few days having been given over to cutting down the squad, the starting sextet has had but little time to work together as a unit. Despite this Harvard is the natural favorite to take the game and unless something unforeseen happens should skate to an easy with over the Engineers.
The game will give Coach Stubbs his first real opportunity to see what the majority of his men can do, and although his starting team is composed mostly of veterans every man on the squad should get a chance to break into the game. The forward line that will start off the game has Garrison at center, and Everett and Saltonstall at the wings. The first two are veterans of two seasons while Saltonstall is a Sophomore. Cunningham and Batchelder, who teamed up on the defense last year, will resume their old positions and Captain Ellis, whose rise as a goalie last year was nothing short of phenomenal, will be in the net.
Coach Bill Stewart of Technology has a veteran defense line, while the forward line is less experienced. Captain Hazeltine and Peterson both have seen service on Tech teams before but Orbanowski and Ford, the two wings, are new this year. They replace Cullinan, last year's captain, and Lacey, both of whom have graduated.
