ANNOUNCE REGULATIONS FOR BOOTT COMPETITION

Arthur Foote '74, chairman for the committee in charge of the Francis 'Boott prize award of $100 for the best choral composition in music, has just announced the regulations that candidates for the prize must follow.

The composition must be for four or more voices, either with or without accompaniment, and the text may be either secular or sacred. If it is of the latter, the music must be of the general character of Mozart or Cherubini, as was preferred by Mr. Boott, of the class of 1881, when he awarded the prize. The prize is to be awarded only in case that a manuscript is submitted that is deserving of it, and the title page of the manuscript must be signed with an assumed name which is to be written on an envelope that contains the real name and address of the competitor inside. Compositions are to be submitted to Foote no later than April 1.

Candidates for the prize may be undergraduates of the University or members of the graduate schools. The prize last year was won by H. W. Lamb '80 of Concord.
