Francis Parkman '18, assistant dean of Harvard College, and instructor and tutor in the History Department, is a leading possibility to fill the position of headmaster of St. Mark's School at Southboro, to succeed Dr. William Greenough Thayer, who resigned last November, is has been learned.
Although there has been no election nor meeting of the trustees, Dr. Thayer, who studied in the Harvard Architectural School from 1915-17, has stated that Parkman's name is being considered, and that his successor will be elected within a week or two when the trustees of the school hold their meeting.
Parkman was awarded his degree at Harvard in three years and was graduated in 1918 with high honors having rowed for Harvard on the winning crew of that year against Yale.
